Vivid Sydney is back from May 23 to June 14, with luminous installations, incredible artworks, and millions of glittering lights. One of the best ways to experience it all? The Vivid Sydney Light Walk. Traditionally spanning 8.5km, the self-guided trail kicks off at Circular Quay and winds through The Rocks, Walsh Bay, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, and more, before finishing up at Central Station. Along the way, you’ll pass everything from towering projections to interactive artworks. The iconic walk is completely free to explore this year, so you can soak it all up without spending a cent.
Vivid Sydney Light Walk 2025
Over the last few years, Vivid introduced paid events like Dark Spectrum at Wynyard Station and Lightscape at the Royal Botanic Garden. While both proved hugely popular, the ticket prices meant they weren’t accessible to everyone. This year, in response to the rising cost of living, Vivid has scrapped those paid experiences entirely, making all events across the festival free and open to all.
In 2025, the festival is set to unfold across a revamped layout spanning five connected zones: Circular Quay and The Rocks, Barangaroo, Martin Place and the CBD (returning for the first time since 2018), Darling Harbour, and The Goods Line and Inner City — each hosting a mix of immersive events and installations.
There’s a lot to look forward to, including the immersive Stranger Things experience, tunnels illuminated by hundreds of stars, foodie experiences, powerful storytelling events, floating waterfalls and more. Check out some of our favourite Vivid Sydney 2025 highlights.
