Christmas at the Cathedral, 2022
From neighbourhood light displays to Christmas light spectaculars, Sydney is putting on a show this Christmas. If you enjoy glowing lights and Christmas cheer, add St Mary’s Cathedral to your list.
Running right up until Christmas day, the light display and projections are one of Sydney’s favourite holiday traditions. Drenched in Christmas lights and sparkling visual effects, you can also look forward to daily choir performances and twinkling Christmas trees at the event.
Festivities begin at 7pm daily with light shows taking over the cathedral and performances by prominent musicians including jazz singer, Monica Trapaga.
“I want to put on something really wonderful for the families, for the young people, for the people of Sydney,” Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Anthony Fisher said.
“There will be of course the great Nativity scene, the beautiful images projected onto the Cathedral, with music and with a story to tell. The Cathedral itself will be open for people to visit.”
Pack a picnic or grab something festive from one of the food and drink stalls available on-site and enjoy the Cathedral’s famous glass-stained windows turning into a kaleidoscope of colours.
