5 Of The Best Places To Gorge On Truly Delicious Pancakes In Sydney

Celebrate pancake day in style.

Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake day, is coming up very soon. Tuesday, February 16, to be exact. But, if we’re honest, pancakes are good any time of the year and any time of the day. (Featured image: @lukepennystan)

Whether it’s at brunch, as a late-afternoon snack, or in the dead of night, there really is no time not to eat pancakes. They’re the ideal food and can be prepared in a number of different ways. Subsequently, they can be known by different names too but now we’re digressing too far from the point of this article.

Here are some of the top places to grab a few (or a lot of) pancakes in Sydney, including a couple on the healthier side of life.

1. Speedo’s Cafe, North Bondi

Number two on our list of reasons to go vegan in Sydney is Speedo’s caramelised banana and chia pancakes. You might be thinking that you’re not vegan, but you don’t need to be to enjoy this delicious stack of sugary goodness. Just look at it. Topped with seasonal berries and fresh fruit, a pistachio crumble and drenched in maple syrup, this is sweetness overload done right.

Find Speedo’s Cafe at 126 Ramsgate Avenue

2. Gram Cafe and Pancakes, Chatswood

Gram’s three-tiered, souffle-style pancakes caused a stir when they opened last year.  These egg-white heavy pancakes are whipped first and steamed under metal domes before being cooked, which results in their cloud-like puff and aesthetic appeal. Customers can then choose from eight varieties such as matcha, caramelised banana, tiramisu, and honeyed apple with Earl Grey-cream to take them up to seventh heaven.

Find Gram at Shop 67, Podium Level, Chatswood Interchange

3. Pancakes on the Rocks, Multiple Locations

Pancakes on the Rocks has been around for quite some time, so it would be a shame to think you haven’t yet been if pancakes are truly are high on your wishlist of foods. Having recently moved to their new 185-seat restaurant, Pancakes on the Rocks continues to serve up their world-famous buttermilk pancakes, both sweet and savoury depending on the mood you’re in but not the time of day because every item is available 24-hours a day.

Find Pancakes on the Rocks at multiple locations around Sydney.

4. Lumiere, Surry Hills

At Lumiere, you won’t be asking for pancakes. Instead, you’re going to be asking for the ‘Hotcakes’ and in no way will you be disappointed because these hot little things are topped with a mixed berry compote, mascarpone and pure Canadian maple syrup. We’d call them perfect, but we think we need to try them a few more times just to be sure.

Find Lumiere at St Margarets Square, Shop 13 / 425 Bourke Street

5. COOH, Alexandria

If being health conscious is on your mind, then COOH in Alexandria definitely needs to be on your radar. And once you’re there, their dairy and gluten-free buckwheat and berry pancake creations are a must. Served with organic coconut yoghurt, toasted coconut chips and seasonal fruits, these pancakes will leave you feeling full but not unable to move.

Find COOH at 90-96 Bourke Road
