There are over 50 Japan related events at Japanaroo.
What’s the one thing you miss most about the outside world? September will mark our third month in lockdown and the wanderlust is seriously setting in now. In fact, a survey found that not being able to travel is officially making us more anxious. If you’ve been bitten by the travel bug and desperately want to escape your daily routine, we’ve got a fun little quick fix for you. Japanaroo — an exciting new initiative that celebrates all things Japan is on right now all over Sydney.
In a nutshell, the initiative gives organisations an opportunity to hold events related to Japan in and beyond Sydney. Anyone — right from NGOs to government organisations to shops and restaurants can take part and get in the spirit of the event.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
There are several fun events you can be a part of. Highlights include ‘Are you a Japan travel expert’, a virtual event where you can put your knowledge about Japan to the test. Complete the quiz and you may just score yourself an exciting travel or accommodation voucher which is sure to come in handy when we finally get to travel again. Head to the competition page and find more information here.
Art enthusiasts will be excited to explore all the amazing Japanese art at Art Gallery of NSW from the comfort of their homes. From Meiji to Murakami, you can take in some truly incredible art from 1879 to now.
Other online events include an online marathon — Run to Japan Close to You which is a charity event for runners, marathoners or beginners. You choose the distance, the time and the location (keeping in mind the 5kms restriction) and you stand a chance to win some cool prizes if you achieve your goals. Win-win. Find more information here.
You can also indulge the chef in you with online cooking classes that amalgamate the flavours of Japan and Australia apart from origami workshops and the Amazing Tokyo tour that lets you experience the sights and sounds of Tokyo from home.
There’s a lot more to look forward to. Find the full list of events and take your picks here.
