DOC, one of Melbourne’s homes to quality Italian pizza, is making the move north and opening up its first Sydney restaurant later this month (hopefully).
The restaurant where it’s generally too busy to just walk right up to a free table, has decided to treat Sydneysiders with their traditional style Italian pizza in Surry Hills – thin, crispy and nothing over the top. (Featured image: @doc_gastronomia)
Known for using quality imported ingredients – there’s a map on the wall in Melbourne detailing the origins of their products – DOC is sure to delight Sydney as they have Melburnians with their authentic, exuberant and outrageously Italian flair celebrating age-old simplicity and heritage. And the buffalo mozzarella of course, which is flown in from Italy.

Expect many, if not all, the Melbourne menu favourites to make an appearance in Sydney. Pizzas like the Pizza ai Porcini ( wild mushrooms, truffle oil and mozzarella in bianco with grated DOP pecorino), the Pizza San Daniele (San Marzano tomato, DOP buffalo mozzarella and DOP San Daniele prosciutto), or the Pizza Soppressa (San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, salame, provolone, pesto di casa & olive) are only a few of the standouts.
And just to keep you coming back for more, there will be two new pizza toppings every week for aficionados to try.

To sip, there will be a large selection of Australian and Italian wines, obviously, as well as the much-lauded house prosecco made by a winery in northern Italy dating back three generations.
Andrea Colosimo, the Melbourne’s Lygon St restaurant manager, will head up the new outpost on Campbell St and continue DOC’s success alongside the Melbourne pizzaiolo.
