Vivid may be over but Sydney’s winter festival season is in full swing, with everything from immersive light trails and Christmas markets to light festivals and foodie events taking over the city. Next month, one of the season’s biggest annual celebrations will return to Circular Quay, bringing four days of French food, wine, sparkling lights and endless joie de vivre to the harbour foreshore. The hugely popular Bastille Festival is set to take over Sydney once again this July, with organisers promising its biggest edition yet. Visitors can expect dozens of food stalls, French-inspired experiences, live entertainment and some new new additions for 2026. Here’s what to expect from this year’s festival.
Bastille Festival 2026
This year’s festival will stretch across Circular Quay and The Rocks, with more than 130 exhibitors bringing a taste of France to the city’s waterfront. Festivalgoers can wander between food stalls, wine bars and market vendors while taking in stunning harbour views and live performances throughout the precinct.
Food is a major highlight again, with more than 80 dishes on offer across the four-day event. Visitors can sample French favourites such as raclette, escargots, crêpes and macarons, alongside a mix of sweet treats, regional specialities and contemporary takes on classic French cuisine. A dedicated drinks program is also on the menu, with French wines, mulled wine, spiced cider, cocktails and craft beers available from more than 18 bars spread throughout the festival. Plus, expect everything from live music and cabaret-inspired acts to roaming performers and street entertainment, there will be plenty happening across the event.
What’s new at Bastille Festival in 2026?
For the first time, Bastille Festival will extend beyond its usual footprint through a partnership with Sydney’s busking program. Live musicians and performers will appear across Circular Quay and surrounding areas, creating a broader trail of entertainment connecting different parts of the festival precinct.
Another new addition is a French-inspired flea market at Gateway Plaza in the heart of Circular Quay featuring a mix of vintage finds, artisan products and curated stalls.
