NSW’s winter calendar is packed with light shows, festivals and after-dark experiences, offering plenty of reasons to venture outdoors even on frigid evenings. Now a new experience in the north-west is giving locals another option a little closer to home. Now open in Vineyard, Lightfields is transforming The Vineyard Sydney into a glowing outdoor wonderland filled with illuminated sculptures, interactive experiences and family-friendly fun for all. Running throughout winter, the attraction combines larger-than-life lantern displays with food, games and after-dark activities, making it an easy evening outing for families, couples and anyone looking to embrace the magic of the season. Here’s what to expect.
Lightfields at The Vineyard Sydney
Visitors can look forward to more than 70 illuminated lantern sculptures spread throughout the grounds, creating a vibrant walk-through trail designed to be explored after sunset. Wander beneath a glowing sunflower tunnel, encounter oversized animal creations and discover a series of colourful installations dotted across the site.
One of the standout attractions is King Cockatoo, a towering six-metre-tall sculpture with rainbow-coloured wings that has quickly become the centrepiece of the event. Other sparkling displays include a giant chameleon, owl, tractor and a glowing red barn, alongside dozens of other larger-than-life creations inspired by nature, farming and local history.
Beyond the lantern trail, visitors can also enjoy carnival and arcade games, a silent disco and dedicated spaces to warm up between attractions. Food and drinks are available throughout the evening, making it a fun night out for the whole family.
