With fairy lights strung across cobblestone laneways, mulled wine in hand and snow falling beneath Sydney’s dark winter skies, Christmas in July has become one of the city’s most popular cold-weather traditions. The festival is set to return to The Rocks next month, bringing 10 nights of festive markets, winter food, live entertainment and European-inspired charm back to the historic precinct. Following a hugely successful event last year, visitors can once again expect artisan stalls, glowing installations and plenty of seasonal treats on the menu. Christmas in July returns to The Rocks
For 10 nights, The Rocks will be transformed into a sparkling village inspired by the traditional Christmas markets found across Europe. The historic laneways of Sydney’s oldest neighbourhood will be lined with wooden chalets, illuminated installations, thousands of twinkling lights, and all the festive trimmings that are synonymous with Christmas.
One of the festival’s highlights, Snow Lane, will also make a return, bringing regular snowfall to Kendall Lane beneath a canopy of glowing fairy lights. Elsewhere, visitors can browse more than 30 market stalls selling everything from handmade gifts and artisan products to festive treats and winter-themed goods.
Live music and entertainment will add to the atmosphere throughout the event, while winter warming treats and food offerings will be scattered across the precinct, including mulled wine, raclette, fondue, hot chocolate, winter desserts. Whether you’re stopping by for a hot drink after work or making an evening of it with friends and family, the festival offers plenty of reasons to embrace Sydney’s coldest month.
