After the launch of Epping Night Market and Bankstown’s international street food market, another large-scale event is returning to Sydney this month, this time with a focus on antiques, vintage fashion and rare collectibles. The Sydney Fair is set to take over Randwick once again, bringing together dealers, designers and collectors from across the country. Long regarded as a fixture on the city’s cultural calendar, the fair brings together a mix of art, jewellery, furniture and unusual historical finds, all displayed under one roof. This year’s edition promises another eclectic mix of pieces spanning fashion, decorative arts and memorabilia, alongside a program of talks and runway-style presentations designed for both serious collectors and curious browsers alike. Here’s everything you need to know about the market.
The Sydney Fair returns this May

This year’s fair will feature more than 60 exhibitors from across Australia, with options to browse and purchase everything from antique jewellery and designer fashion to decorative art, vintage furniture and sporting memorabilia. Standout pieces on display include a curated collection of Valentino dresses spanning several decades of fashion history, alongside a number of rare and unusual collector’s items, including historical memorabilia and ethically sourced taxidermy peacocks prepared by Australian master taxidermist Colin Rich.
Beyond the shopping, the fair will also host a packed weekend program of fashion parades, talks and presentations included with general admission. Highlights include a showcase dedicated to Valentino’s evolving designs through the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, a runway presentation celebrating bold vintage “femme fatale” fashion, and a colourful retrospective of 1960s and 70s jet-set style featuring designers like Emilio Pucci. Visitors can also attend talks exploring Art Deco design, Georgian jewellery and the history of Australian colonial jewellery throughout the weekend.
