There’s a lot to love about Sydney, from its beaches to its rich cultural offerings. It also turns the voltage up in a big way during Christmas. What the city lacks in snowy landscapes and hot treats, it makes up for with some incredibly festive markets and some of the most dazzling Christmas events in the country. Unsurprisingly, Conde Nast Traveller has chosen Sydney as one of the best places in the world to celebrate Christmas. The Harbour City was listed alongside the likes of London, NYC and Paris and deemed one of the twinkliest cities in the world to bring in the festive season.
The magazine elaborated on Sydney’s charm this time of year by spotlighting the beloved Martin Place Christmas Tree and the CBD.
“You haven’t seen Christmas lights until you’ve seen Sydney’s Christmas lights. Plus, the holiday season lasts an entire month here (take that, 12 days of Christmas) with “Sydney Christmas.” The festival features the city’s largest Christmas Tree at Martin Place.”
“Wonder at the 3,500 twinkling lights at the Strand Arcade or the 85,000 twinkling LEDs at the incredible Pitt Street Mall Canopy of Light.”
Living up to its reputation, Sydney is hosting a string of pop-up events to make this Christmas a sparkling one. There’s miniature Christmas villages and markets down at The Rocks, a mega Christmas Festival in Darling Harbour and a glowing new Christmas show at the Royal Botanic Garden. Get out there and make the most of our very merry city this Christmas.
