Not only are some of the best beaches in the world here in Sydney, but it’s also home to some of the most picturesque universities in Australia. A recent study found the University of Sydney to be the most photogenic campus in Australia based on the number of hashtags it got on Instagram. Sydney’s resident Hogwarts had over 200,000 hashtags which is hardly surprising when you look at the unique sandstone structure. Melbourne’s Monash University was voted the second most picturesque campus followed by the University of Melbourne at third place. Rounding out the top 5 were other snap-happy spots like Curtin University and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The University of Sydney was not the only NSW campus to make the cut. Macquarie University, well-known for its serene lake and leafy campus also made it to the list at number 10.

The study was conducted by office and school furniture experts at Buydirectonline to determine the most beautifully designed campuses in the country. The study scraped Instagram using relevant hashtags and then ranked each university from the highest to lowest hashtags from the data collected.
