Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter dined at a chic Surry Hills restaurant last night ahead of her first Eras Tour concert at Sydney’s Accor Stadium this Friday. Pellegrino 2000 is the intimate trattoria in question. Although lauded as one of NSW’s most famous Italian joints, the beloved diner only opened its doors in 2022. Pellegrino 2000
Opened by chefs Daniel Pepperell and Michael Cliff and sommelier Andy Tyson, Pellegrino 2000 takes inspiration from the classic trattorias of Rome and Florence and excels at many things. Delicious food, classic wines and a cosy aesthetic are on offer for diners. The eatery features a main dining room and a candle-lit wine cellar in the basement, perfect for date night.
Menu highlights include a variety of saucy Italian specialities which include classics like lamb ragù with rigatoni and the sublime prawn ravioli with brown butter. Side dishes include focaccia, olives, fritto misto and Suppli or arancini rice balls topped with anchovies and breadcrumbs. For dessert, you can expect a luxurious crema caramello alla banana served with a plate of banana-flavoured whipped cream and melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu among others. Wash it down with Australian and French wines, bellini’s and excellent negronis. A four-course set menu will set you back by just $89 per person and pasta dishes start at a reasonable $34. Check out their full menu here.
