Sydney’s ever-popular after-hours party is making a grand return in honour of Sydney WorldPride. Jurassic Lounge will take over the Australian Museum once again, this time turning the spotlight on Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ community. Dig out your sparklers and rainbows for a night of music, entertainment and science. Although back for one night only, the exclusive Pride edition includes an exciting program of events that should keep us fueled till the next extravaganza at the AM.
Jurassic Lounge: Pride Edition
For those unfamiliar, Jurassic Lounge is the Australian Museum’s famous adults-only party which returns yearly with a new and creative theme. In the past, the museum has hosted a neon-lit Halloween bash, A party dedicated to Heroes, both fictional and non-fictional and a clash of the Titans with Robots vs Dinosaurs back in 2017.
The 2023 edition joins forces with Sydney WorldPride for a fun and vibrant party where everyone’s invited as they are. The inclusive event features a number of events spread throughout the museum’s galleries and hidden spaces.
The queens of Sydney Drag Royalty will let their hair down to Wild Planet, a remarkable exhibition featuring some of nature’s most prominent giants. Queer nightlife personality Aunty Jonny will MC the event and bring the tunes throughout the evening. Scary Strangers will take over the larger-than-life Dinosaurs exhibition for a comical yet informative autopsy of a T.rex. Other highlights include the ongoing exhibition Sharks and the dazzling exhibit Minerals featuring 1800 spectacular rocks and minerals.
There’s heaps more on including face-painting, drop-in drawing workshops, stand-up comedy, a pop-up bar and party games.
Sydney WorldPride takes over town this February with immersive exhibitions, beach parties and more. Tickets are on sale now, don’t miss out!
