Do flowers spark joy for you? If your answer is yes, you’ll be happy to know that the world-famous floral exhibition Fleurs de Villes is coming to Sydney this August. Working with top local florists, designers, growers and nurseries, Fleurs de Villes has showcased stunning floral displays in over 16 cities around the world. Now in partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and the NSW Government, the unique floral show is making its way down under.
Fleurs de Villes, Sydney
This year’s theme is ‘FEMMES’ and the exhibition seeks to celebrate 15 remarkable women around the world. Showcasing a series of fresh floral mannequins, these dreamy tributes will take over the Calyx in the RBG for ten days. The mannequins will be based on a photograph or painting of each woman with local florists joining in on the fun.
Gaze at groundbreaking painter Frida Kahlo or enjoy a floral mannequin of homegrown pop culture icon Kylie Minogue. Indigenous Australian social activist and educator Evelyn Scott will be celebrated at the floral extravaganza among others.
Participating florists include Persephone, Blue Flowers, Don De L’Amour, Flowerrun Flower Studio, Butchers Daughter, Sydney Events Stylist, Art of Bloom, Beks Bloomz, Buds & Bowers, Florada, Hayfever Flowers, Max & Co Floral Design and more.
Giving budding and established talent a chance to shine, the Fleurs de Villes promises an interactive and educational time for attendees. Audiences of all ages, cultures and genders can enjoy these floral displays as they learn more about these incredible women who’ve made a profound impact through the ages.
Fleurs de Villes Co-founder Karen Marshall says, “Since the launch of Fleurs de Villes five years ago, and our travels to over 23 cities, we have long wanted to come to Sydney to showcase this city’s incredible floral talent. The Calyx in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is the perfect spot to premiere our FEMMES show for the first time in the southern hemisphere.”
And that’s not all. Along with gazing at these tremendous floral works, you can head to a pop-up flower market on August 24 and take part in workshops and enjoy talks from florists, scientists and horticulturists. There will also be a number of bespoke dining experiences on-site including a French high tea and a bottomless rosé brunch.
Over the years, Fleurs de Villes has established itself as a staunch ally of women from different communities with an all-female team front and center. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased via the Royal Botanic Garden website.
