For those seeking a tranquil retreat in nature, Australia offers some of the best places to relax and recharge. So it comes as no surprise that a recent study, which assessed green spaces across 100 cities worldwide, included four Australian cities on the list. With its stunning beaches, expansive national parks, picturesque coastal walks, and lush gardens, Sydney naturally leads the charge in Australia. The city ranks 16th globally, with 30 impressive green spaces, making it one of the top destinations worldwide. With 21 spots, the next city in Australia with the highest number of green spaces is Melbourne, ranking 31st on the list.
The cities with the most green spaces worldwide
To identify the cities with the most abundant green spaces, the team at Freepik examined Google reviews for 2,300 parks and green attractions in the world’s 100 most populous cities. The study only considered green spaces that had received more than ten reviews on TripAdvisor, ensuring that only the most highly-rated locations were included, while filtering out less reliable entries.
Tokyo claimed the top spot, followed by London, Paris, and Singapore, with New York rounding out the top five.
In addition to Sydney and Melbourne, Adelaide also earned a place on the list, ranking 59th overall with 12 notable green spaces and attractions. Perth secured a spot as well, coming in at 68th place with 12 spots to its name.
Looking to take advantage of all these natural attractions in the city? There are plenty of beautiful spots to enjoy.
