Looking for something fun to do these spring holidays? The Royal Botanic Garden of Sydney is hosting an immersive exhibition that will transport visitors into the heart of a lush rainforest. Dubbed Alchemy of a Rainforest, the exhibition features towering walk-through sculptures, lit-up canopies, and a variety of fascinating rainforest flora. Open daily from 10am to 4pm, throughout spring and summer, this dreamy exhibit will be held at The Calyx and showcases over 20,000 plants, including one of the largest living green walls in the Southern Hemisphere.
Alchemy of a Rainforest
Curated by the horticulture team at the Botanic Gardens with recycled materials by ERTH, this sensory exhibition will include vibrant garden sculptures by environmental artist Jane Gillings and several interactive elements throughout the venue. These detailed pieces represent seeds, flowers, branches, fungi, and butterflies, showcasing the rainforest’s crucial role in sustaining a variety of life forms.
Highlights of the exhibition include the oversized Satin Bowerbird’s bower, a bird endemic to eastern Australia, crafted from upcycled materials. You can even sit inside it and soak in the many sounds of the rainforest buzzing with life. Plus, walk through vibrant canopies, enveloped by lush rainforest vistas.
Guests can enjoy an authentic rainforest experience and explore one of the oldest ecosystems on earth without leaving Sydney. Guests can also get their hands on snacks, drinks, lunch, and sweet treats at The Calyx’s kiosk from 8am to 4pm every day.
