After previously announcing extra $50 Stay and Rediscover vouchers, NSW premier Dominic Perrottet has announced a $500 voucher scheme for parents across NSW in order to ease childcare burden and cover before and after school care costs.
$500 vouchers for NSW parents
As part of the $155 million program, the $500 vouchers will be made available to families with primary school children on February 28.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said the vouchers will help ease the pressure on families financially and “help mums and dads balance work and family life”.
“We know it’s been a challenge, we know in a modern environment getting up and going to work, getting the kids to school, doing those things can become enormously challenging and difficult,” he added.
The vouchers are set to cover the ‘parent gap fee’ — the amount paid by families after applying the Commonwealth-funded childcare subsidy. While the $500 vouchers will lend support to working families, they will also be crucial for small and medium sized businesses that have had at least a 40 per cent downturn over the summer period.
How to apply for your vouchers
If you have a primary school going child, you can apply for the vouchers through the Service NSW app from February 28 onwards.
Similar to the Dine and Discover vouchers, the $500 vouchers will be sent directly to your phones.
They can be used for before and after school care only.
