A new nationwide study has named Sydney’s worst-rated Aldi stores, with Aldi Kogarah on Railway Parade scoring just 3.79 stars out of five from 329 Google reviews.
The store ranks as Australia’s lowest-rated Aldi, followed by supermarkets in Darlinghurst, Auburn and Rhodes, which make up the country’s four lowest-rated locations.
All 10 of NSW’s lowest-rated Aldi stores are in Sydney, with shoppers repeatedly complaining about long checkout queues, closed self-service registers and empty shelves. Here’s where to find NSW’s worst-rated Aldi supermarkets and how they compare with the rest of the country.
Kogarah has Australia’s lowest-rated Aldi

With just 3.79 stars from 329 Google reviews, Aldi Kogarah takes the unwanted title of Australia’s lowest-rated Aldi in the nationwide study. Darlinghurst follows with 3.82 stars from 295 reviews, while Auburn and Rhodes both average 3.85 stars.
At Kogarah, one shopper complained in March 2026: “Only ever 1 checkout open and in lunch time rush hour!”
Darlinghurst shoppers have raised concerns about product availability, with one September review describing a “Small selection, as often little in stock.”
Auburn, which has more than 1,000 reviews, also attracted complaints about staffing. “Line is super long and most of the time only one person is working. Two max,” one shopper wrote in August 2026.
Here are the 10 lowest-rated Aldi stores in NSW:
- Aldi Kogarah, Railway Parade — 3.79 stars from 329 reviews
- Aldi Darlinghurst, Oxford Street — 3.82 stars from 295 reviews
- Aldi Auburn — 3.85 stars from 1,079 reviews
- Aldi Rhodes — 3.85 stars from 213 reviews
- Aldi Lane Cove — 4.00 stars from 216 reviews
- Aldi Miller — 4.02 stars from 452 reviews
- Aldi Rockdale — 4.03 stars from 806 reviews
- Aldi Hurstville — 4.03 stars from 1,114 reviews
- Aldi Bankstown, Chapel Road — 4.04 stars from 1,363 reviews
- Aldi Edgecliff — 4.05 stars from 465 reviews
The complaints extend beyond the bottom four. At Lane Cove, one shopper wrote: “One lane open and long lines! Self checkout closed! Hopeless”. A Rockdale reviewer similarly complained about “Long lines for checkout, only 1 staff member and self-checkout closed”.
Empty shelves are another frustration. At Rhodes, one reviewer wrote: “Shelves always empty at Rhodes! North Strathfield much better stocked.” A Bankstown shopper also criticised the Chapel Road store’s restocking, saying shelves were left bare for extended periods.
How were Australia’s worst-rated Aldi stores ranked?

The study analysed Google Maps listings for Aldi, Coles and Woolworths supermarkets across Australia.
Researchers collected the data on 5th October 2026 and rechecked the named Aldi stores on 20th October. The study covered 545 open Aldi stores with at least 200 Google reviews, representing 366,916 reviews.
Instead of relying on Google’s rounded star ratings, researchers calculated each store’s exact average from its individual one- to five-star reviews. Closed stores and duplicate listings were excluded, and each store received equal weight in state averages.
Oliver Weston, founder of the research company, said the findings showed that supermarket experiences extend beyond price.
“Most people choose a supermarket on price, but the reviews show how much the store itself matters,” Weston said. He added: “Aldi stores carry much the same range, so the difference between the best and the worst comes down to how each store is run.”
The ratings may change as new reviews come in, but for now, Kogarah holds the unwanted title of Australia’s lowest-rated Aldi, with three other Sydney stores close behind.
