Following Australia’s win against Denmark, excitement is high for the upcoming Australia vs Argentina match. The NSW government has responded to intense pressure from fans by confirming that a live site will be set up in Darling Harbour this weekend. The Opera House’s sails will also be lit up green and gold from 8pm Saturday until dawn on Sunday. Plus all public transport will be made free from 4am until Midday on Sunday so Socceroos fans can travel down to the city to enjoy the match live.
Premier Dominic Perrottet said the screen would be set up at Tumbalong Park from 5.30am on Sunday, December 4 for the significant match.
“On Sunday morning Sydney football fans can watch the game together and cheer on the team as they push to make history and earn a spot in the quarter-finals,” he said.
Official live sites across Sydney
Aside from Darling Harbour, a number of big screens are being set up across Sydney courtesy of local councils.
Live sites at Beaman Park in Earlwood, Enmore Park in the inner west and Macquarie Mall in Liverpool have been announced.
The premier confirmed Darling Harbour as the site this week.
The Socceroos have previously only made the final 16 of the FIFA World Cup once. The event begins from 5.30am on Sunday and will be alcohol-free and completely free to enter.
