NSW is home to a bevy of amazing ancient caves with sprawling chambers and crystal formations you have to see to believe. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has announced the reopening of the Wombeyan Caves, debatably one of the coolest in NSW and you can visit them as early as this weekend. As part of the recent $9.6 million renovations, visitors can enjoy the surroundings from a brand new viewing platform alongside a visitor centre, kiosk and picnic areas.

The caves had been closed as of December 2023 as local Councils repaired flood damage along Wombeyan Caves Road from both directions. Post-renovations, visitors will be treated to a number of new features including a wheelchair-friendly viewing platform near the Fig Tree Cave surrounded by incredible scenery. Plus there’s local wildlife in the area, a picturesque walking track and several picnic spots.
