Experiencing snow in our sunny, tropical city sounds like a pretty unattainable idea. But don’t hold off your mulled wine and winter beanies just yet. A huge snow festival is coming to the The Greenwood Hotel and The Richmond Inn and it promises to pull out all the stops this winter. Expect 150 tonnes of real snow, whiskey bars, movie screenings and free activities for kids and adults alike.
The event arrives in town just in time for the school holidays with festivities kicking off at The Richmond Inn from July 4-10. The premises will transform into a dreamy wonderland with 50 tonnes of snow flurries expected to ‘fall’ all week.
Snow Festival in North Sydney
Make a snowman or enjoy tobogganing and snowball fights — all that snow is yours to frolic around in. Families can also rug up and enjoy some classic winter movies in the Homestead. There’s also face painting, balloon twisting, visits from a frosty snowman to keep the kids entertained along with a movie singalong. Also on offer is a kids eat for free promotion so we don’t use the word ‘wonderland’ lightly.
Next up is the The Greenwood Hotel which will be kicking off a two-week long snowy extravaganza from July 19-30. Featuring North Sydney’s biggest Olympic grade ice rink with free skating access for all, fire dancers, a skate and date night and more, it promises to be a one-stop shop for all your snowy dreams.
At the venue you’ll also find a bar serving up shot whiskeys by Fireball Whiskey, fire pits to snuggle up around, 100 tonnes of real snow, exclusive winter cocktails and a special kids menu. A special highlight is a Veuve Clicquot Gondola for all the Instagram fiends. DJ’s will also be spinning live tunes along with figure skating performers for your entertainment.
In the spirit of the season, The Greenwood Hotel will also be giving 2 lucky festival-goers the opportunity to win 2 limited- edition snowboards. Take your family, friends or just yourself for this fun-filled snowy adventure for the entire month of July. You can even take your adventure up a notch and hire the entire skating rink just for yourself. No bookings are required but make sure you snag a table at this popular winter hotspot.
