Waldorf Astoria, Sydney
If you haven’t heard of the luxury hotel, chances are high that you have probably seen it. It’s made multiple appearances in a number of popular shows and movies right from The Sopranos to The Royal Tenenbaums. It was also featured prominently in Scent of a Woman and The Pink Panther.
Now set to take over a prime location in Sydney’s CBD, the hotel is set to span 179 rooms and 41 suites, all of which will undoubtedly be finessed to the same panache that the Hilton brand has become synonymous with.
“As the first Waldorf Astoria property to debut in Australia, Waldorf Astoria Sydney signals Hilton’s commitment to expanding our luxury portfolio to the world’s most sought-after destinations,” chief brand officer for Hilton, Matt Schuyler said in a statement.
“Our highly personalized, elegant service and iconic environments are at the heart of every hotel, and we look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests in Sydney.”
Adding to the six Waldorf Astoria properties in the Asia-Pacific, the Sydney branch signals the brand’s expansion in the Australasian market.
As for the location, it’s as iconic as it can get in the Australian market. Located in the One Circular Quay mixed-use development at 1 Alfred Street, the hotel will be in close proximity to some of the city’s most prominent attractions with the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Royal Botanic Gardens barely a stone’s throw away.
Along with the 179 rooms and 41 suites, guests can look forward to two excellent restaurants and a rooftop bar overlooking the glittering Sydney Harbour. The hotel will also feature the Peacock Alley, a signature space for Waldorf Astoria properties around the world, complete with the Waldorf Astoria clock which pays homage to the history of it’s many Hotels & Resorts.
The interiors promise a sense of luxury and elegance with Tokyo-based firm, Kengo Kuma & Associates, and Sydney-based Crone Architects spearheading the design aspect.
