You’ll remember Oh Matcha Cafe for their Instagrammable cherry blossom soft serve just last year. Now they’re switching things up and dropping soft serves infused with an Australian classic — Vegemite. Yep. The iconic (and questionable) Australian spread, loved by few and hated by many, will now feature in your ice cream whether you like it or not. This new dessert joins an increasingly growing list of controversial Vegemite variants, think brownies, pizzas and even doughnuts. Sydney’s first-ever Vegemite soft serves will feature a salted caramel ice cream but with a strong hint of Vegemite’s unique flavour.
Vegemite Soft Serves
If the idea sounds a bit outrageous to you, the good news is that you can try one of these soft serves for free. It’s sort of a win-win if you don’t have to pay for it, right? From 12pm on January 26, the cafe will give out free soft serves to their first 100 customers as a little nod to Australia Day.
And they’re not stopping there. Neighbouring store Tenkomori will be serving up Vegemite ramen (!) topped with fish and chips. Tell me you live in Australia without telling me you live in Australia.
You’ll find both stores at Regent Place Shopping Centre, get in fast if you want a free soft serve. Keep an eye on their website for more and let us know how you go!
