Tokyo Lamington is back, this time with a festive twist to their classic fare. For Christmas, this year the Newtown legends are whipping up their fruit mince tarts but with a hit of Ume. Aside from their famous regular flavours such as the Fairy Bread, you can also expect a full Christmas menu along with festive gift boxes and rich Japanese Nama Chocolate by Mamé Cocoa.
Tokyo Lamington, Christmas menu
The popular bakery is going big on its menu offerings this year to usher in Christmas.
“We made a private stash of Umeshu back in Oct 2021 and after 12 months of sitting in the dark, they’re now ripe for the picking.”
Umeshu while more commonly known as plum wine isn’t really wine at all. It’s a Japanese liqueur made by steeping ume plums in liquor and sugar over the course of a year.
The fruit mince tarts will feature mixed fruits, spices, brown sugar and some extra Ume from Choya to pack in all the flavour.
Other Christmas menu offerings include lamingtons flavours like Gingerbread, Rocky road, Brandy Pudding, Peach Trifle, Candy Cane, OG, Yuzu Meringue and of course, the cult favourite, Fairy Bread. There’s also delicious gift boxes up for grabs including a half dozen pack for $42, a dozen pack for $84 and a mega pack for $95 packed with yummy goodness.
Sydneysiders get a little extra treat with special Japanese Nama Chocolate by Mamé Cocoa with flavours like matcha and yuzu available.
The Christmas menu drops next week. Head to Tokyo Lamington’s website for more details.
