If you love Broadway theatre, chances are some of your favourite musicals belong to the Golden Age of Broadway. My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Annie Get Your Gun and Cinderella are some of the many longstanding musical theatre trailblazers from the 1940s and 1950s that are still going strong today. Sydney Philharmonia Choirs is now inviting avid theatregoers to put on their tap dancing shoes and head back in time with a tribute to these timeless musicals. Simply titled ‘The Golden Age of Broadway‘ the evening will feature toe-tapping tunes and catchy music from some of the most iconic musicals of our time.
The Golden Age of Broadway, Sydney Opera House
A dreamy program of favourites from musical geniuses including Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein will be presented at the Opera House.
More than 100 singers from the choir’s celebrated Symphony Chorus will take to the stage including Virginia Gay, Georgina Hopson, Kanen Breen and Alexander Lewis along with a full orchestra conducted by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs’ Brett Weymark.
Presented as part of the Sydney Opera House’s 50th anniversary, the Golden Age of Broadway will be performed live on stage at the Concert Hall and also live-streamed to the audience seated outside on the Opera House Forecourt.
