Sydney Fringe Sideshow — an exciting new event produced by the coveted Sydney Fringe Festival, is gearing up to bring an avalanche of fun events to town this week. In the offing are comedy nights, immersive performances, music, dance and theatre galore for both free and ticketed events across 9 nights of fun and laughter.
Sydney Fringe Sideshow
Some exceptional Aussie talent is set to take centrestage across three venues on George Street: The Terraces, The Old Observer, The Old Coroner’s Court plus our favourite — a secret location, The Gallery.
Spend an evening hopping from one venue to another while taking in dreamy projections, exciting performances and laugh out loud comedy shows while supporting local talent. In collaboration with Placemaking NSW and the New South Wales Government CBD Revitalisation Program, the Sydney Fringe Sideshow aims to breathe fresh life into the arts and events sector.
Program highlights
There’s heaps to look forward to and events have been tailor-made for a diverse audience.
A multi-disciplinary visual art exhibition which sheds light on the rich history behind The Rocks called Liminal by Tortuga Studios will be on throughout the event. The art studio will also be bringing several immersive displays and installations to the event.
Laugh out loud with award-winning comedian Bec Melrose or buy tickets to comedy duo David Poltorak and Marty Morgan’s hilarious show 2 Jokers.
Music lovers can look forward to names like Leah Flanagan, Georgia Mooney, Abby Dobson, Tessa Thames and Prinnie Stevens taking the stage at The Old Observer Hotel.
A big highlight of the event is the Sideshow Street Festival on this weekend, March 5-6, which will see talented performers take to the streets of The Rocks and show off their skills with over 20 street theatre shows a day. The shows include gravity defying acrobatics, juggling, hooping, magic and dancing among others.
