There’s no better mood booster than a good ol’ dance sesh. And if you’re a dance lover based in Sydney, there’s no better place to get your moves on than the Sydney Dance Company. Back in lockdown the dance giants were instrumental in keeping our happy hormones going through their live streaming sessions. And now on May 28, they’re hosting an open day at their Wharf Studios location at Dawes Point.
From 9am to 4pm, expect heaps of dance classes across a number of different styles for no cost at all. We’re talking everything from jazz, hip hop, ballet, contemporary, tap dance and everything in between.
Lessons are designed for all levels and forms so all you need to do is show up. There are also a number of postural assessments and workshops, again, free of cost. One to watch out for is the improvisation workshop with Course Coordinator Omer Backley-Astrachan who will take a deep dive into all things contemporary dance.
The open day enables aspiring dancers and parents to get an insight into how the company works. Give it a go if we’ve piqued your interest and take your pick from this wide range of classes.
The classes are conducted by dancers from the Sydney Dance Company so you know you’re in good hands. Blow off some steam and take care of your mental and physical health with a bit of dancing. Oh and in case you can’t make it, classes will also be live streamed via Zoom so you can burn off some calories from the comfort of home.
