
After a series of violent events in the city and a persistent cost of living crisis, many Sydneysiders are seeking to relocate to places that offer a balance of safety and quality of life. And many are finding it in the Northern Sydney suburb of Ku-Ring-Gai. Known for its national parks, most famously Australia’s second-oldest national park, this lush corner of the city has topped the list of safest suburbs in Sydney according to the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR). The picturesque suburb of Lane Cove, which offers a village-like setting and lively cafes and restaurants was second on the list with Hunters Hill rounding out the top 3.
The Ku-Ring-Gai local government area includes the suburbs of East Gordon, East Killara, East Lindfield, Fox Valley, Gordon, Killara, Lindfield, North Turramurra, North St Ives, North Wahroonga, Pymble, part of Roseville, Roseville Chase, South Turramurra, St Ives, St Ives Chase, Turramurra, part of Wahroonga, and Warrawee. According to the report, there were around 172.4 incidents per 100,000 people in the suburb.
Top 10 safest suburbs in Sydney
Beyond this ranking, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill were also placed on a list of Australia’s most liveable suburbs recently so these are undoubtedly coveted places to call home. The report notes that there were 202.3 incidents per 100,000 people and 207.2 incidents per 100,000 people in Lane Cove and Hunters Hill respectively.
Also on the list at number 4 was Mosman, the affluent suburb flanked by harbour views and walking trails. Upper Lachlan Shire which boasts a wealth of native wildlife and peaceful corners made it to number 5 on the list.
