The top ten most expensive suburbs to rent in Australia may all be in Sydney but don’t write off the Harbour City as a potential home just yet. The most liveable suburbs in Australia have been named and three Sydney suburbs have made it to the top 10. 50,000 responses were collected from residents of every state and territory by data analysts Place Score for their annual Australian Liveability Census. The data reveals the most liveable suburbs across the country with residents asked to rate their LGA on 50 diverse attributes. Each LGA was scored out of 100 for ‘place experience’, or PX.
Australia’s most liveable suburbs
Aside from the top 3 NSW suburbs, Victoria and WA also dominated the list with 3 suburbs each in the top 10.
Topping the list was the leafy suburb of Subiaco in Perth which was hailed for its connectivity to other areas, wide range of amenities and stylish cafes and bars. It scored 81 out of 100. Subiaco was followed by two somewhat surprising suburbs in Sydney. Taking out the number two spot, Lane Cove was named Sydney’s most liveable suburb with a total score of 79 while Hunters Hill in the lower north shore came in third with a score of 78 out of 100 on the PX index.
Boroondara in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne followed closely at number four with a score of 77 while Victoria’s Surf Coast Shire ranked number five also with a score of 77.
Noosa was the only Queensland suburb to make the list at number 10 with a score of 76 and the third Sydney suburb to make the cut was North Sydney at number 7 also with a score of 76.
