Penrith has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. Once viewed primarily as a gateway to the Blue Mountains, the Western Sydney suburb has emerged as one of the region’s fastest-growing lifestyle and entertainment hubs, fuelled by major infrastructure projects, new dining precincts and a steady stream of community events. From Australia’s biggest snow resort to the upcoming Western Sydney Airport, the area is set to draw huge crowds from across the city. The precinct is also set to welcome the winter in style with the return of Panthers Fireworks Carnival, it’s massive, free-entry carnival this June long weekend, with something for everyone on the cards. Here’s everything you need to know.
Panthers Fireworks Carnival returns this June long weekend
Taking over The Backyard at Panthers Penrith this weekend, the one-day event will transform the popular entertainment precinct into a giant carnival packed with family-friendly attractions. Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of carnival rides, games, showbags and roaming entertainment throughout the afternoon, alongside a petting zoo and face painting for kids and families.
The action kicks off early for sporting fans, with the Tigers vs Panthers NRL clash broadcasting Live & Loud on the big screens from 2pm. To keep the festival energy moving into the evening, live entertainment hits the stage later in the afternoon. Local favourites Unleash Band will perform from 4pm to 7pm, before DJ Elleur takes over the decks to keep the music going until midnight. A fleet of food stalls and dessert trucks will also be operating on-site from 1pm until the event closes at 8pm to keep the crowds warm and fed.
The biggest drawcard arrives after sundown, with Western Sydney’s biggest fireworks display scheduled to light up the night sky above Penrith at 7pm. Expected to draw crowds from across Western Sydney, the spectacle will serve as the centrepiece of the carnival and one of the standout moments of the June Long Weekend.
