We’re always on the hunt for a good rooftop bar in Sydney. Especially now with Summer around the corner, we’re ready to step out and bathe in all the glorious sunlight the city has to offer. And lucky for us, there’s a new kid on the block courtesy of Philter Brewing. Sydney’s much loved brewers kept themselves busy during lockdown with this labour of love which has just opened its doors in Marrickville last week. Taking inspiration from elements of 80s garden bars and Palm Springs, the bar aptly named Marrickville Springs is quite the happy respite in the heart of the city.
Marrickville Springs
With its open blue skies, pristine breeze blocks and pastel tiles — while the space evokes a strong Palm Springs vibe, it stays true to its Marrickville roots.
In an ode to Marrickville, you’ll notice a mural by local artist Mielo and a custom neon behind the bar featuring bin chickens and palm trees.
“The ibis was a given, nothing says Marrickville like a picnic pirate, but the palm trees are a shout out to the area, too. The neighbourhood palms are pretty iconic. We’ve gone for a Marrickvillana theme.” Stef Constantoulas, Sales and Marketing Director said.
Apart from unlimited sunshine, this summery, Insta-friendly bar also features pretty pink walls, tropical plants hanging overhead and aesthetically pleasing wooden bench seating. Also on offer are delicious classic cocktails and wine’s by local legends Jacoby’s. While beers will come to your table straight from the brewery and taproom downstairs.
Menu offerings will include Aussie cheese plates and classic prawn cocktails. There’s something for everyone looking to unwind and take in the warm summer vibes. Even better — bookings are now available so you can snap up a spot for yourself right away. Find all the details here.
