The Blue Mountains are calling us again, this time for the Leura Gardens Festival. The quaint village of Leura is set to host a lovely festival brimming with pinks, blues and yellows. Back after a two-year pandemic pause, the 56th edition of the festival will feature a dizzying variety of cool-climate plants, striking deciduous trees and more.
Leura Gardens Festival
The festival will be held over the long weekend in October so you have plenty of time to plan a getaway from the city. The huge celebration promises to be a haven for garden and nature lovers. We’re talking a sea of gorgeous blooms, lovely bulbs and plants including azaleas, rhododendrons and peonies.
Taking it up a notch, there will be two new gardens on the cards this year dubbed Avila and Karoola respectively. Avila will see a smaller space transform with impressive flowering bulb displays while Karoola will feature a larger display including extensive wisteria plantings.
Additionally, the popular gardens at Everglades and Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains will also be on display for attendees. Live music will strum away in the background with musicians like the Katoomba Jazz Band and the Wombats Crossing trio taking to the stage.
You can grab the ‘hop on, hop off’ bus service that runs every 30 minutes to the gardens or simply meander down and soak up the beauty of spring all around.
