Remember the giant LEGO baubles that took over the Opera House forecourt earlier this summer? Not one to be left behind, Darling Harbour has brought it’s own LEGO playground to town. Featuring beloved LEGO Minifigure characters such as Benny the Robot and the Ballerina, you’ll find 20 giant minifigures spread across the harbour. Dubbed the Lego Play event, it comes to Sydney as part of LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary. That’s right, LEGO has somehow been around for nearly a century. That’s 90 years of stepping on LEGO and consequent foot pain, but it calls for a celebration anyway.
Lego Play Event
On until Sunday, August 14, these colourful LEGOs are a must-visit for kids and adults alike. Each lifesize character will feature a special play moment to stop and make the most of. In the spirit of celebration, you can take pictures, dance or play hide and seek with the minifigures.
Ryan McNaught or The Brickman and the southern hemisphere’s only Lego Certified Professional will also be at the venue to unveil a surprise creation which will join the 20 minifigures.

While you’re there, make a day of it by heading to Darling Harbour’s Winter Festival and Foodie Market for winter warming treats, mulled wine and live music. There will also be firepits to snuggle up around, picture-perfect igloos and markets aplenty. Make sure to stay back for the beloved Darling Harbour fireworks over at Cockle Bay for a thrilling end to the day.
