Lane Cove is a leafy oasis tucked away from Sydney’s hustle and bustle, yet close enough to dip back into the CBD in just 15 minutes by car. This place earned the title of Australia’s most liveable neighbourhood for good reason—it’s home to lush Lane Cove National Park, a charming village-style centre and the peaceful Lane Cove River. Come May, the suburb becomes a stage, coming alive with a free jazz festival that showcases its creative spirit and celebrates International Jazz Day 2026 in style.
Why is Sydney’s Lane Cove the most liveable neighbourhood in Australia?

Nestled on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, Lane Cove was named Australia’s most liveable community in the 2025 Australian Liveability Census. It scored a whopping 80 out of 100 points based on its green spaces, high safety rating and sense of community.
It’s home to Lane Cove National Park, where locals can explore winding bush tracks and shaded riverside walks year-round, while the river itself is ideal for kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding.
Lane Cove also has spaces that bring people together. Take “The Canopy” village precinct—an award-winning cultural hub featuring a landscaped rooftop green space, playgrounds and “Eat Street” dining. This May, The Canopy will be hosting Lane Cove’s live jazz festival alongside The Plaza.
