Kate Bush fans in Sydney have had to wait two years since their last Wuthering Heights Day. Little did they know at the time, but the wait is going to be so totally worth it because, as you are probably aware, Kate Bush is seeing a bit (understatement) of a resurgence this year. 2022 just might be the Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
It all began with Shambush’s 300 Brighton, UK, Kates in 2013, when Kates dressed all in red (red dress, red stockings and black belt) descended on the field to dance to the 1978 Kate Bush classic. Sydney’s first edition happened in 2017 and the community event run by volunteers and without sponsorship has grown since then.
And while new Kate Bush fans have only just been introduced to the British singer thanks to Stranger Things (Season 4), there’s plenty of time to go from “Running Up That Hill” to learning the “Wuthering Heights” choreography in preparation for the big day, which just so happens to also be Kate Bush’s birthday—July 30.
To make sure you’re moving the right way, here’s a mirrored version of Wuthering Heights so you can practise at home. But, if you want to get some group practise in beforehand, take a peek at The Most Wuthering Heights Day Facebook page for some pre-Wuther parties.
There’s no need to register for The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, but you can follow the event page to stay up to date with the latest developments and find out everything else you need to know.
