There’s no shortage of markets in Sydney. From harbourside staples to food markets, there’s plenty around town. But there’s less to choose from when the sun goes down, which is what makes the Inner West Night Markets in Marrickville so special. Something about the late-night atmosphere just elevates the whole market experience to the next level, and ever since the famed markets took a two-year pandemic sabbatical from 2020 until mid-2022, it’s reminded us to never take this monthly marvel for granted. Here’s what you’ve got to see when you visit!
When and where are the Inner West Night Markets held?
Traditionally, the Inner West Night Markets are held on the first Friday of every month, making them a perfect way to wind down after a long week. With food, vintage goods, fresh produce, a vibrant atmosphere and heaps more on offer, the markets take over Marrickville’s Fraser Park, a short walking distance from Sydenham Station. Enjoy an evening of music and dance while filling up your bags post sundown.
What’s on offer?
Market goers can expect a wide assortment of stallholders at the venue, though the exact lineup is subject to the occasional change. One could grab vintage vinyl records, CDs, tees and more from Vectorpunk or get sublime handmade candles from MiliBees. The likes of Vamonos Paella sling vegetarian, valencian (chicken and veggies) and delicious seafood paella on-site, alongside Mapo Gelato and Maru’s Kitchen which will be stocked with heaps of Mexican treats. There’s a rotating cast of entertainment that includes live music, performances, and much more; no two editions of the market are the same, inviting repeat visits aplenty.
Give Netflix a break for the evening and head out for an night of dining under the stars, music, shopping and more. And bring the whole family along – there’s something to suit every taste.
