Maroubra is getting a new monthly market day, with the Heffron Park Monthly Markets returning this Sunday, 16 August, for a full day of food, vintage finds, local makers and family entertainment.
Running from 8am to 2pm at Heffron Park’s undercover netball stadium, the markets will bring more than 90 stalls together under one roof.
Come hungry
The Heffron Park event gives Maroubra a second opportunity each month to shop from local businesses, independent makers and vintage sellers. Running on the third Sunday of every month until December 2026, the weatherproof market is held inside the nearby netball stadium, so shoppers can browse year-round, rain or shine.
The market has over 14 hot food stalls and four food vans scattered around, serving up an international spread. Among the traders are Dumpling Cheers, serving handmade dumplings; Radici Napoletane, bringing wood-fired pizza; Jom Malaysian Street Food, with charcoal satay; and Ola Lola, serving warm paella and empanadas.
The lineup also includes birria tacos, Greek souvlaki, Turkish gözleme, Korean fusion burgers and crêpes, alongside coffee, drinks and other market treats.
Beyond the ready-to-eat food, shoppers can pick up fresh artisan products including baked goods, preserves, condiments, honey, eggs and farm-direct fruit and vegetables.
Vintage, fashion and local makers
The market will also put plenty of space behind Sydney’s second-hand and creative community. This month’s event includes 14 second-hand and vintage stalls, alongside traders selling clothing, jewellery, bags, homewares, ceramics, candles, art prints, stationery, plants and handmade goods.
The broader market lineup spans local makers and creators, beauty and wellness products, kids’ goods, pet accessories and community stalls.
For shoppers looking to spend less on new goods, the emphasis on vintage, preloved and handmade wares offers an alternative to the usual retail circuit, with many stalls focusing on local sourcing and low-packaging setups.
Fun for the entire family
Families can expect more than just shopping and eating, with free kids’ activities running throughout the day. The program includes giant bubbles and a puppet show, while face painting will give younger visitors another reason to stick around.
Children from Chifley Public School will also have their own second-hand toy stall, giving families a chance to pick up pre-loved toys while supporting a local school community.
The markets will also feature live music, entertainment and hands-on workshops as part of the regular program. The undercover venue is one of the market’s biggest practical advantages, particularly for families and shoppers who don’t want their plans dictated by the weather.
There’s also free on-site parking, while dogs are welcome at the markets. Pet stalls selling treats and accessories mean four-legged visitors can get in on the market browsing, too.
