West Side Story first made its entry on Broadway in 1957 eventually becoming one of the most successful musicals of all time. Based on the Shakespearean tale of Romeo and Juliet, the musical tells the story of two teenage gangs, Sharks and Jets, who fight for control of the Upper West Side. Tensions escalate when a gang member falls in love with a rival’s sister.
