It may be the height of spring but spooky season is around the corner and it’s never too early to start getting into the spirit. This year Sydneysiders have something special to look forward to in the form of a first-of-its-kind Halloween street festival called Ghost in the Rocks which promises to be both frightfully fun and fabulously festive. The event is set to feature an array of attractions including electrifying discos where you can dance the night away to haunting tunes and a New Orleans-inspired street parade where everyone is invited to don their most elaborate costumes and join in on the revelery. The festival will also mark the debut of a spooky Halloween market featuring themed food and drink, roving entertainment, and more.
The Haunted Woods, Halloween Market
The Halloween festival will take over The Rocks from October 31 to November 3, the ideal time to lean into ghostly lore and haunted stories. Over the four days and four nights, the historic neighbourhood will transform into a playground for the supernatural where you can get properly spooked. A ghostly market will be set up during the day along with a food and drink hub at First Fleet Park with 22 deceptively charming wood cabins serving everything from ghostly confections to spiced pumpkin brews, inventive culinary creations, and more.
Expect cocktails served in blood bags from 4 rescue bars and curated food stalls while ghostly figures bring real-life paranormal thrills to the venue. There will also be a live stage set up and you can expect a memorable time learning more about The Rocks’ dark history. Don’t be surprised if you return home with your own supernatural tale. Entry to the Haunted Woods will be free and the event is open to all ages.
