Flights are on sale right now!
After spending months vicariously living life through our television screens, it’s surreal to be this close to normality. With Australia resuming international travel from next month, there is heaps to be excited for especially with summer around the corner. If you’ve been dreaming of turquoise waters you’ll be happy to know that Fiji is reopening to Australian tourists from next month. Even better — after news of the Fiji border reopening broke, several flights from Australia were also swiftly announced.
Fiji border reopening
Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama made the announcement that the South-Pacific country will be reopening its borders to Australia from November 11.
That’s right. Come November, you can start planning your yearly summer holiday once again.
Along with Australia, a number of partner countries will also be allowed back to Fiji including New Zealand, the US, Canada, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the UK and others. The countries have been prioritised due to their high rates of vaccination.
Over 80 percent of adults in Fiji are fully-vaccinated, and more than 96 percent have received at least one dose. Fiji reached its 80 per cent double dose target three weeks ahead of schedule thus escalating the reopening of borders.
Requirements for travel to Fiji
Tourists keen to travel to Fiji will need to be fully vaccinated and provide a negative PCR test within 72 hours of departure. You will also need to download the country’s Care Fiji app when you arrive. Although no quarantine is required, tourists will be expected to spend the first two days in their respective hotels.
