Sydney’s biggest celebration of Italian culture is returning next month, with Ferragosto set to transform Five Dock into a bustling street festival filled with authentic food, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. Stretching along Great North Road for one day only, the much-loved annual event has grown considerably since it began in the late 1990s, evolving from a small local gathering into a major fixture on Sydney’s cultural calendar that attracts visitors from across the city and beyond. The 2026 edition promises another vibrant celebration, with local businesses, community groups and market stalls coming together for a lively day out. What’s on at Ferragosto this year
Visitors can look forward to more than 150 food, retail and artisan stalls lining Great North Road, showcasing everything from handmade Italian specialties to gourmet treats and unique local products. Expect plenty of traditional favourites, including wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta, gnocchi, arancini, cannoli and gelato, alongside live cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs throughout the day.
Entertainment will be spread across five stages, with live music, cultural performances and roaming entertainers creating a lively atmosphere from morning through to the afternoon. Families are also well catered for, with free carnival rides and a petting zoo for children, while adults can stop by the Terrazza Aperol on Garfield Street to enjoy spritzes and antipasti in a relaxed outdoor setting. With something happening around every corner, it’s the perfect way to spend the weekend.
