Immersive night-time experiences are having a moment in NSW, and one of autumn’s most magical after-dark events is making a return. Just a short drive from Sydney, the popular Blackbutt Forest Reserve in Shellharbour will once again transform into a glowing wonderland of lights, colour and family-friendly adventure under the stars. Dubbed “In Bloom“, the limited-run experience features illuminated walking trails set within the forest reserve, giving visitors a chance to explore the space after dark in a completely immersive setting.
The Enchanted Forest “In Bloom”

After drawing strong crowds in previous years, the experience returns for 2026 with an expanded format and recalibrated footprint, introducing new themed light zones, dreamy soundscapes, longer walking routes and a bigger focus on interactive elements throughout the trail. Visitors can expect to weave through shimmering light tunnels and see the bushland transformed by large-scale projections that map onto the trees and surrounding landscape.
The experience leans into light and sound, with each section of the trail designed to highlight the surrounding forest through colour, projection and atmosphere. To support the increased demand, sections of the trail have been widened for easier movement, making it more manageable for prams and families.
Running across late April and May, it’s worth booking ahead if you’re planning the drive down from Sydney, with tickets available via the official Enchanted Forest website.
