Comté, Cantal, Emmental, Brie, Camembert — turophiles, rejoice because Bon Fromage is returning next month and it’s bringing a tonne of free cheese to town. Yes, you did read that right. Free cheese. A whole tonne of it. From June 3 until June 5, get transported to cheese heaven with Sydney’s massive French cheese festival. Bringing some of the finest cheeses of France to our shores, the festival will be slinging around 80 kgs of cheese every two hours.
Bon Fromage, 2022
Like most other events in the last two years, Bon Fromage had to adapt and go digital. This year, they’re making an ambitious return with a stellar variety of fromage lined up so you can get your hands dirty as you dive into a world of cheese.
Make your way to the Cargo Hall of the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal, grab a glass of wine and get feasting as you stroll around ‘Stinky Market’. On location you’ll find a 60-metre tasting table with over 20 varieties of cheese. Both the cheese tasting and entry are completely free. We didn’t use the word ‘heaven’ lightly.
Apart from the mind-boggling range of cheeses, a number of other activities are on the planner as well. Expect complimentary masterclasses from some of Australia’s best cheesemongers, groove to live entertainment and find the perfect cheese and booze matching at the venue. Heaps of cheesy numbers including Triple-Crème, Langres, Pont L’Évêque, and more will be at your disposal. Bringing the best of both worlds to the table, quite literally, Bon Fromage will also feature wines, crafted beers, and spirits on site.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to purchase some cheese for your next Netflix binge. Oh and it’s happening during Vivid Sydney so you can expect the views to be nothing short of spectacular. Do you need any more convincing? We sure don’t!
