The Blue Mountains have long drawn Sydneysiders longing to get out in nature. Now there’s yet another reason to head down to this spectacular part of the state because a new light experience is set to take over the World Heritage site. Dubbed Nocturnal, visitors will be treated to stunning light displays and holograms, all against the backdrop of towering mountains and surrounded by rainforest. The event runs from April 5 to May 4, 2024 on select nights only.
Nocturnal, Blue Mountains
Walk through a field of flowers, stand beneath sparkling light trees, stumble upon hidden creatures and discover the Gundungurra story of creation as the sun sets and night rises. Upon arrival, visitors will be met with delightful light displays fit for Instagram. Highlights include an enchanting Luna Light Journey which will lead ticket holders along the elevated rainforest boardwalk.
Kids can keep busy on their own Nocturnal quest and find hidden treasures along the way. The child ticket includes a spy pen, a quest sheet and a special bandana — all the essentials to unlock the clues. As part of the festival, you can also ride the steepest railway after dark and the Cableway and the Skyway to stunning views of the Blue Mountains.
Food and drinks will be available on-site including warming treats like mulled wine and firepit roasted marshmallows and hearty snacks like Dorito wings, corny snags and more.
Tickets will set you back by $55 for adults and $40.60 for kids, kids under three can enter for free. Head here to get yours and to find more information.
