Brand new to Potts Points’ lineup of new restaurants is Bar Lucia, an elegant Spanish tapas joint helmed by head chef, Alberto Palacios. Inspired by the bars of Madrid, both in decor and menu offerings, the wine bar offers a range of authentic Spanish tapas-style plates and an extensive wine list with a focus on female winemakers. The lavish new venue comes to town courtesy of hospitality group Milpa Collective, the team behind Sydney’s popular Mexican restaurants Carbon, Londres 126 and Taqiza.
Bar Lucia, Potts Point
Bringing a slice of Spain to Sydney, Bar Lucia is the ideal spot for a romantic dinner if you’re looking for things to do this Valentine’s Day.
Key menu highlights include roast sea scallops on the half shell with saffron butter, ox tongue with salsa pintxo and salsa verde, anchovies with salsa spinader and Jamon serrano croquetas. Also on the menu, barbecued octopus with black olives and red capsicum sauce, Catalan-style cannelloni, roasted pork belly and more.
A true tapas experience won’t be complete without some tipples. Bar Lucia’s wine list focuses on supporting producers from Australian wine regions, especially NSW and female winemakers. Plus expect delicious cocktails led by head bartender Luna Ercoli. If you’re a cocktail lover, you owe it to yourself to try Lucia’s Cheesecake Cocktail, a liquid version of a cheesecake made with cream cheese-infused vodka, blueberry marmalade and blueberry shrub.
Along with hearty Spanish fare, the venue’s Madrid-inspired aesthetic packs a real punch. Kick back in their private room, reminiscent of a Spanish courtyard with a glass roof and atrium-style design or take a picture with the many elegant blooms, candelabras and art fixtures.
