Babycheeks Beignets are on a mission to make your lockdown a tad bit sweeter.
Sweet treats have perfectly filled a hole in our lives during lockdown. And to satiate our cravings even further, a cool new concept has come to town. Beignets are a New-Orleans style doughnut that are essentially square shaped pieces of dough, deep fried and sprinkled with confectioners’ sugar. As delicious as they sound, they are not easily found in Sydney. Not until Babycheeks Beignets came into the picture. This cool new business is serving this delightful dessert straight to your doorstep.
“With so many experimental and amazing flavours already on offer in Sydney, our inspiration was to hero the foundational elements that makes a good donut – fried dough and sugar. If we could explain the texture, it would be like a cross between the average holed doughnut and the Chinese doughnuts (You Tiao, 油条),” Bec Deasy and Joshua Dinata from Babycheeks Beignets tell us.
These square donuts are crispy on the outside with just the right amount of fluffiness and chewiness on the inside.
The duo, who are cousins, started Babycheeks Beignets as a weekend passion project on Instagram along with their regular 9 to 5 and it has kicked off to quite a reception from Sydneysiders selling out in just three minutes.
