You might think in a city replete with cafes and bakeries, the last thing you need is another. That is, till you try A.P Bakery’s exceptional food and coffee. No wonder that despite only being around for a year and a half, the bakery has earned itself such a staunch cult following in the city. Now after hosting successful bake sales at Carriageworks and on the rooftop of Paramount House Hotel, the team has arrived in the inner west with A.P Town.
A.P Town
You’ll find their first standalone venue in a quiet corner of Newtown behind north King Street on Bucknell Street. With an industrial and rustic vibe, the cafe comes with all the things the A.P brand has become well known for. Expect coffee, toasties, pies and all sorts of baked good.
As for the menu, it’s simple but not lacking in impact. There’s pastrami pies, cheese toasties and drinks along with their uber famous and hearty aleppo and chickpea soup. If it’s baked goods you’re after, it’s very unlikely you’ll go home empty handed. From baguettes, bagels and country loaf, there’s a range of options for breads. While you’re there, you’ll want to try their pastries and cakes. From chocolate chip cookie to lemon tarts and buttermilk croissants, there’s heaps to pick from. Also on the menu are buckwheat pain au chocolat and soft and light Italian bomboloni doughnuts filled with fruit.
If it sounds lovely, it’s because it really is. The bakery is increasingly becoming a name to reckon with along with great food and moody decor to boot.
