McDonald’s Rhodes has claimed the unwanted title of NSW’s worst-rated Macca’s, averaging just 2.15 stars from 786 Google reviews. Emerton II and Yagoona follow closely behind, with both restaurants scoring barely above two stars.

How does NSW compare nationally?

Across the 887 McDonald’s restaurants included in the research, the national average rating was 3.29 stars.
Edinburgh North, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, received the lowest rating in Australia, averaging just 1.89 stars from 672 Google reviews. According to the research, 68% of reviewers gave the restaurant a single star.
Queensland locations Edens Crossing in Redbank Plains and Berrinba followed, with average ratings of 1.96 and 2.00 stars, respectively. NSW’s Rhodes, Emerton and Yagoona restaurants also featured among the country’s lowest-rated locations.
The research used Google Maps listings for Australian McDonald’s restaurants, excluding duplicate listings, corporate offices and restaurants marked as permanently or temporarily closed. The final ranking included 887 open restaurants with at least 500 Google reviews each, representing 1,459,622 reviews in total.
Restaurants were ranked using their exact average ratings, calculated from individual one- to five-star reviews rather than Google’s rounded display scores.
While ratings can change over time, the results offer a snapshot of the NSW Macca’s falling short of customer expectations.
