The delightful small town is an ideal starting point to Kosciuszko National Park, NSW’s largest, so you’ll have ample opportunity for outdoor recreation alongside leaf-peeping adventures. The Snowy Valleys is also an excellent foodie region with a diverse mix of cafes, pubs, and nearby wineries. For an enchanting autumn experience, time your visit to coincide with the Falling Leaf Festival — a vibrant local celebration featuring street parades, food and drink, market stalls, roving entertainment and of course, the most sensational autumn colours. In 2025, the festival will be held on April 26 and 27, perfectly coinciding with the long weekend, so start planning your trip.
As you wander through the main streets of the town, you’ll be immersed in a vibrant display of autumn colours — crimson maples, bright yellow elms, and the striking golden hues of Lombardy poplars, the star of the show. For more seasonal colour, head to Elm Drive and Rotary Pioneer Park and take in rows of lush elms putting on a display.
