The legendary singer said while announcing the news: “Australia has always shared abundant love with me, going back to my early concerts in the late 70’s through the uplifting partnership with the National Rugby League. It is very special for me that we will be reunited. The joy, passion and message of resilience in my musical is so important now as ever.”
NSW Minister for Tourism, Stuart Ayres confirmed the news earlier today adding that the musical will appeal to both young fans and seasoned theatregoers.
The musical premiered in London in 2018 to widespread critical and commercial acclaim. It tells the story of the singer’s humble beginnings in Tennessee to her meteoric rise to global fame and a comeback story like no other.
Tina Turner has 12 Grammy Awards under her belt selling more concert tickets than any other solo performer in music history. She’s also one of only three women to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame twice.
There’s no news on the musical touring other Australian cities yet but watch this space for updates. Tickets are now on sale and Sydneysiders can snag some here.
